Research in homeopathy
Scientific Research is ongoing into how homeopathy works. Daily as homeopaths we see it working in action but ‘How does it work ‘ ? has always been the big question .
Recently Swiss research from the Swiss Health Technology Assessment (HTA) strongly advocate the use of homeopathy after exhaustive research into homeopathy . It includes a summary of 22 systematic reviews of clinical trials in specific medical conditions, 20 of which show positive evidence for homeopathy with five of those 20 showing clear evidence of effectiveness. The Swiss report concluded that…
” In summary it can be said that there is sufficient evidence for then preclinical effectiveness and the clinical efficacy of homeopathy and for its safety and economy compared with conventional treatment .”
Swiss now to recognise homeopathy as legitimate medicine .
March 2016; Since that exhaustive research into homeopathy the Swiss interior ministry has announced plans to give five complementary therapies including homeopathy the same status as conventional medicine.
Homeopathy, holistic medicine, herbal medicine, acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine will acquire the same status as conventional medicine by May 2017 when it comes to health insurance. This is a great boost to the homeopathic community and about time too !
Nobel Prize Winner Luc Montagnier Supports Science of Homeopathy
Luc Montagnier the french virologist who won the Nobel Prize for his discovery of the Aids Virus and is the founder and president of the World Foundation for AIDS Research and Prevention has spoken out in favour of the science of homeopathy .
“I can’t say that homeopathy is right in everything. What I can say now is that the high dilutions (used in homeopathy) are right. High dilutions of something are not nothing. They are water structures which mimic the original molecules.” luc Montagnier.
Montagnier is making reference here to his experimental research that confirms one of the controversial features of homeopathic medicine that uses doses of substances that undergo sequential dilution with vigorous shaking in-between each dilution. Although it is common for modern-day scientists to assume that none of the original molecules remain in solution, Montagnier’s research (and other research of many of his colleagues) has verified that electromagnetic signals of the original medicine remains in the water and has dramatic biological effects.

Cuban Homeo-prophylaxis test 2007
This research probably involved the largest group of people ever to be involved in homeopathic Prophylaxis test and the results were overwhemingly positive !
2.3 million people living in areas of Cuba at the high risk of infecton with Leptospirosis were given 2 doses of the homeopathic nosode at 200c . The remainder of Cuba’s 11 million population were untreated.
The untreated group saw a 22% increase in cases of leptospirosis the following year 2008 .
The group treated with homeopathic propylaxis saw an 84% decrease in cases of leptospirosis in 2008 .

Homeopathy is a very cost efficient medicine when compared to the cost of pharma. The cost of using homeopathic prophylaxis for 2.3 million people in Cuba cost $ 300,000 whereas the cost of using pharma vaccinations and only on the most vulnerable (elderly , pregnant women and Children ) cost $4 million dollars . Considering this disease is close to being eradicated health ministers and governments together should take note of the effectiveness of treatment and financial savings that can be made with homeopathy .
The cytotoxic effets of ultra-diluted remedies on breast cancer cells – Frenkel 2010
The homeopathic remedies Carcinosin , Conium , Phytolacca and Thuja were all found to cause cell cycle delay , arrest and apoptosis on breast cancer cells.
‘The effects were similiar to that of Taxol( the most commonly used chemotherapy drug for breast cancer ), but without the toxic effect on normal cells ‘.

Northern Ireland study 2007-2008 – Get well UK 16 practicioners of Complementary Therapies ( Acupuncture , Aromatherapy, Chiropractice, Homeopathy Massage & Osteopathy) treated 700 patients referred by GPs at 2 practices .
80% of patients had improvement with their symptoms .
64% needed less time off work .
55% were able to take less painkiller medication .
98% of the GPs involved said they would recommend the service again .

These are brief summaries of homeopathy research put together by the European Network for Homeopathy Researchers (ENHR). All of the findings referred to are backed by scientific studies and full references are available.Homeopathy is practiced in 41 out of 42 European countries. It is officially recognized and included in the national health system in a number of countries both within and outside of Europe.

In one study of 6,544 patients making 23,000 visits to homeopaths over a six year period just under 71pc of patients reported positive health changes. Half of the patients said they felt much better than before after treatment.

Of the1,270 children treated in the same study 80.5% had some improvement and 65.8pc% of these felt better or much better.

Seven out of 10 patients visiting Norwegian homeopaths reported a meaningful improvement in their main complaint.

In a survey of 233 British patients 90% indicated an improvement.

Another study of 160 British patients found that 73% had very positive effect and 27% had some effect.

(PMS) – one double blind clinical trial found 90% of women treated with homeopathy for this condition reported a more than 30% improvement.

Women
Women often consult homeopaths for help with reproductive health problems, menstrual disorders, menopause and problems during pregnancy and childbirth.
A number of studies have shown that women make up between 64% and 80% of the clientele visiting homeopaths.
Menopausal complaints – in a study of 102 patients 81.4% reported improvements in symptoms with homeopathy. They were treated for an average of five months each for hot flushes, sweats, tiredness, anxiety, sleeping difficulties, mood swings and headaches. A total of 88% reported clinical significant improvement in their primary symptoms.

Homeopathy after oestrogen withdrawal – ‘A total of 40 out of 45 women with breast cancer, withdrawing from oestrogen and treated with homeopathy reported significant improvement in their primary symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Hot flashes after breast cancer therapy – a survey in a British homeopathic hospital showed homeopathy effective for women suffering from hot flashes after surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatment for breast cancer.
Psychological complaints –A British survey of 37 patients with psychological complaints found that 81% were “very satisfied”, 16% “satisfied” and 3% “not satisfied at all” after homeopathic treatment.
Diarrhoea in children

A study of 81 children between six months and five years treated for acute childhood diarrhoea in Nicaragua found that homeopathic treatment showed a significant decrease in the duration of the diarrhoea.

A similar study of 116 Nepalese children in the same age group showed significant improvement when treated with homeopathy compared to those treated with a placebo.
Respiratory tract complaints A study of 500 patients treated by 30 practitioners in four countries showed a response rate of 82.6% in the homeopathy group compared to 67.3% in the group receiving conventional medicine.
ADHD A trial of 115 hyperactive patients between three and 17 years of age showed a 73% clinical improvement after homeopathic treatment.

ME/CFS

A randomized double-blind trial involving 62 patients with ME, reported in some detail, found that 33% of patients in the group receiving homeopathic remedies showed definite improvement.
Surgery

In a survey of 26 patients receiving homeopathic Arnica or placebo after face-lift operation,patients receiving homeopathic Arnica had statistically significant smaller areas of bruising after operation

In my own personal experience and from many of my patients’ experiences there is no doubt in my mind that homeopathy works. In practice I see homeopathy working and my patients overall health improving daily. Try it for yourself !
